Good Girls Don't (Donovan Brothers Brewery, #1) - Victoria Dahl Good Girls Don't by Victoria Dahl
Donovan Brothers Brewery: Book 1

I was excited when offered the chance to read and review this book. I have been looking forward to reading the Donovan Family books. And this book certainly did not disappoint!

Tessa is the baby of the family with two older brothers. It's natural when she gets involved with a man that her brothers will try to interfere. The book starts out with a little bit of a mystery and it is an excellent way to introduce us to the family dynamics and each of the characters. I love the family interaction. It didn't seem false or forced. This is clearly a family who cares about each other and only wants to help. Even if they sometimes seem to care just a little too much and their help is more like interference. Just like in a my family.

Tessa, while the baby and only girl, feels it is her job to be the glue that holds her little family together. Its just her and her brothers and she is determined to keep them together come hell or high water.

Jamie is the middle child and a wild child at that. He likes to have fun and it shows. Of course that is all a front for someone who is unhappy with there he is in life. He feels trapped into being the man his Brother thinks he should be.

Eric is the oldest. Almost an adult when his parents died, he takes responsibility for his siblings. He devotes his life to raising them and ensuring the family legacy, the brewery, succeeds.
Like I said, LOVE the family dynamics.

Enter Luke Asher. He is the detective assigned to the break in at the brewery. Its not sparks at first sight but once he talks to Tessa the sparks ignite. Tessa is a grown woman with the appetites to match and doesn't see any harm in pursuing that. She is looking for some fun but nothing serious. Luke comes with a past and all the baggage it entails. Her brothers try to warn them both from getting involved but that doesn't stop it from happening. The relationship is going well until family pressures (his and hers) and the past cause it to falter. Tessa doesn't want a serious relationship and wonders if it is worth it.

I was totally invested in this book. I was frustrated, turn on and exasperated. I yelled at the characters to pull their heads out of their asses! Of course yelling at a book causes my kids to look at me like I have lost my mind. *g* I love the way the book ended. I am not going into detail because you should read it for yourself. Suffice it to say I am going to be gobbling up the next two books in this series as soon as I can get my hands on them.
My rating: 5 Stars
